ITunes will soon be dropping support for syncing contacts and calendars between iPhone and Windows. When I plug in my phone iTunes on my PC syncs everything both ways to keep my Windows Outlook and my iPhone calendar and contacts up to date. I use Microsoft Outlook installed on my windows PC for my calendar and contacts.
